Now, why the hiatus? Not sure, I would like to think that I have just been way too busy to sit down and blog. Well, okay lets just go with that, yep, way to busy doing my many motherly things to sit down and jot it all down!
In keeping with the motherly theme, as a minivan driver one has certain images that go along with your ride. Such as the expectation of driving the kids to school and back, to soccer practices, along with transporting all your children's friends around as well, all the while balancing childcare, housework, church, and volunteering. Well, since I was a little thin on the volunteer work I decided to jump in head first and volunteer to be on the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) at Mckenna's school. So I decided to dive instead of get my feet wet. I will be the 08-09 Secretary for the Rock Prairie PTO. Lots of meetings and emails and such. I am actually excited, I will at least get to know other moms at the school and really just get out of my bubble I have lived in for most of my life. I look forward to that, it should be fun, and yes, it is stretching myself way beyond my comfort level. So here's to a year of growth!!
We've also been busy with some visitors. My Mom came down and spent a few days with us. We really enjoyed having her and miss her so much!! She needed an escape from the "Frozen Tundra" as Jonny refers to Utah in the winter, so she drove the mustang down. Lets just say I think Jonny put as many miles on it over the few days she was here than she put on coming down here! He even slept with the keys. He has never slept with the odyssey keys...hmmm...should I take offense to that?Mckenna and I took the opportunity to have some girl's time, along with my SIL and niece, Jana and Kara. We had a great time going to the salon and each of us getting a mani and a pedi. The girls were especially cute as they sat in those big spa chairs with humongous smiles! They each got to pick out their own polish colors, Kara's turned out cute with black, yes black, polish with white flowers and a pink jewel in the middle, on both of her big toes and fingers. Very cute. Mckenna went with a metallicy red, oh yeah, these girls went bold! Mckenna had white flowers on her toes and fingers as well with gold jewels as accents on the flowers. Very cute also! Jana went with a subdued mauvey color and I of course, and not consciously, went with a maroon, with white flowers on my toes, kinda girly but I still love it! It wasn't until after we got home that I realized I had chosen Aggie maroon! See I am an Aggie and it doesn't take any thought, I just do!!! I look forward to many more girly outings with my daughters!!!
Also, in these past few weeks we had a few other guests. My nephews, Chance and Cade. Chance is 5 and has lots of uncontrollable boy energy, and Cade is 1 1/2 and an extreme Mommy's boy (okay he might like his dad a little too!) I will be the first to admit that I was nervous to have them stay for the 4 days that they did. It was actually pleasant. The boys did great. We had a couple of meltdowns but really nothing I couldn't handle (and no I don't proclaim to have superhuman tolerance levels either!) But here is how we coped with the week:
Jonny's is the yellow cup/bucket full of Dublin Dr. Pepper and mine is the large Vanilla Diet Coke from Sonic. If any of you have ever been to sonic you will know that my cup really isn't that small. If you can tell from the picture that Jonny's actually has a handle. Yep, it's a bucket filled with Dr. Pepper and dwarfs my drink. Maybe this picture will put it into perspective for you:

This concludes the detailings of our blogging hiatus with the highlights of time between posts. Enjoy!
