Time flies when you're having fun!!!

Happy Birthday Princess Mia!!!

I can't believe my baby is 1!?! She has been such a blessing in our home this last year. She has the sweetest little spirit. She has a special twinkle in her eye that only shines for her Daddy. Her big sister is already her hero and big brother is her comic relief. Mia is a quiet and reserved child. It takes a lot more than usual to get her to giggle, but when she does you can't help but laugh along with her. She has been such a good baby, not too demanding, easily goes with the flow, and came with the sweetest personality. I'm not sure if it is just her or her position in the family as number 3 but it has been a joyful year, despite the sleepless nights, the runny noses, and all the fun that goes along with a baby!! As we are preparing for our firstborn to celebrate birthday number 8 and our sweet son turning 5 that has allowed me the perspective of how truly fast time flies. I have tried to enjoy her more than usual simply because they do grow up so fast and the next thing you know they are turning 8 and talking about the "nice" boys in her class. Yikes!! I can honestly say that those nights of little sleep were okay just because I got to cuddle her a little more that day. Those days of short naps haven't been too tragic, we got to spend more awake time with her (despite a sometimes grumpy girl) Those little bumps and bruises she got while trying to get around aren't going to kill her but allowed me to comfort and cuddle a crying infant. Someday sooner than I would like she won't need her mom so much, so believe me I am trying to squeeze as much lovey, huggy, kissy time out of her while I can!!!

I love you my angel! I look forward to year number 2 (oh wait do I really?? Hmmm...could get interesting!!)

What my Halloween Habits say about me...

What Your Halloween Habits Say About You

You're a friendly person, but not the life of the party. You like making someone else's day - and you'll dress up if you think of a really fun costume.

You definitely think of yourself as someone who has a dark side. And part of having that dark side means not showing it.

Your inner child is stubborn and a bit bossy.

Your fears are irrational and varied. It's hard to predict what you may be afraid of on any given day.

You're logical, rational, and not easily effected. Not a lot scares you... especially when it comes to the paranormal.

You are a traditionalist with most aspects of your life. You like your Halloween costume to be basic, well made, and conventional enough to wear another year.

What about Mia?

Here she is... Miss America.

Luke and I were having fun one day and this is what we came up with. Whatcha think? As you can tell she is sporting some mighty big teeth on top. FoUr to be exact. All came in at the same time which could explain the loss of consciousness I have experienced this last month or so. She is also getting quite fast at crawling and also scaling the couches and walls. Walking I'm afraid is not far off. Yikes! Her favorite meal right now is kitty food. Yep, she darts for the kitty's food any chance she can. She is turning into an expert at knowing just the right time to dart for that corner of the house. So duh? why don't I just move kitty's food? Well let's just say Kitty doesn't like it and lets us know quite regularly and just refuses to eat unless her food is RIGHT there where it should be. Yep she is a true Gibson after all, stuborn like Jonny.

Anyhoo this is my 11 month old Mia, as cute as can be, I am enjoying this little stinker more than ever!!

See a theme here?

As you read this post and then scroll down to the next you will find something that they both have in common. What is it?? Luke's clothes. He has started playing soccer a couple of weeks ago and a couple of weeks ago he stopped wearing normal clothes, just his soccer uniform minus the shin guards, socks, and cleats. He LoVeS soccer but more than that he LOVES his uni. So he doesn't take them off.

At the first game my normally shy, passive son did great. He got in there manhandled the ball and even scored 2 goals, yep that's what I said TWO goals. That brought a tear to his Coach/ Daddy's eyes real quick. He has been doing great and has really surprised me with his aggressiveness. I thought he would be the one on the outside of the pack watching for the ball to come loose, but nope I was wrong and I admit it. Luke is coming out of that shell. That's my boy!

As a side note, when Jonny/coach asked Luke to come up with a couple of names for his team so that all of the team members could vote on it he came up with Tigers or eye of the tiger. For any of you who know Jonny or Luke that isn't a big stretch and describes what Luke would love to listen to every minute of every hour of the day. Oh, Tigers won out.

Let's start here...

Okay so its been awhile since my last post. It is certainly not due to a lack of materials, just lack of motivation, sorry. I will admit that I have a big flaw, I know you are shocked but here goes, my big flaw is that when things get real busy/crazy my brain shuts down, can't function. Instead of just plowing through, I tend to bury my head in the sand and wait it out. Not the best coping method but it is mine and it is, by my own admission, flawed. So...not that you cared or really even wanted to know that- you might ask what was the point of that? Well here goes...it's because a lot has been going on, nothing serious I assure you and not much of which I will bore you with, but just enough to make my brain hide in the sand.

In an attempt to bring my head out of the sand here is a few of the best parts of this last month: Mckenna can't get enough bike riding in, only Mckenna being the first child that she is, has never really figured out how to entertain herself. She gets real bored riding up and down the sidewalk by herself or with Luke running after her so she has enlisted Dad to ride with her. But as you can see, not just Dad but Luke too. On the account that Luke's bike has no seat (don't ask me how that happened, I don't really have a clue, and he is just plain slow when it did have a seat) he gets/ wants to ride with Dad, so here is what we came up with. We realize that we aren't the best advocates for bike safety but hey they all have fun, and we didn't wear helmets and junk when we did this growing up and we are just fine! (subjective I know)

Wise time management!

Okay so here we are one day after school. I had laundry in the dryer, dishes in the sink, toys strung from one end of the house to the other and this is  how I chose to spend my time!! I love these 3! They are all getting to be so much fun. There isn't a day that goes by that they don't make me laugh or make my heart melt. Notice I said day and not moment, I am a realist and I'll admit there are moments when my heart isn't melting and I am not laughing, life isn't always so peachy but...I still love being a mom!

Mia wouldn't actually lay down there with us but she wanted to make sure she was included in the pictures!!!

Welcome to our family!

In a moment of weakness Jonny okayed our getting a pet. As much as I am not a cat person and would prefer to have a BIG dog this little kitty will have to do. I didn't think I could handle a puppy now that Mia is mobile and her toys rarely stay in her basket. So here we are cat people. She is the cutest little thing and let me tell you this cat/ kitty is a trooper. In fact we have this book called "Olivia" and I know there are a ton of those but in this particular one Olivia wakes up moves the cat, gets dressed, then moves the cat, brushes her teeth, then moves the cat, and so on and so forth. Well, let's just say that pretty much describes Luke and the kitty's relationship. He carries her from room to room and always has to be messing with her. She in turn takes it and still comes back for more. The first night we brought her home she hid under the couch but now she just hangs out wherever she wants to and is obliged to be carried everywhere. She is very sweet and I am excited that my children now have a pet to take care of and learn to not be afraid of animals. I mean really, it is pitiful when you have to carry a 4 year old boy everywhere when there is any kind of an animal around. It is almost a point of embarrassment to this animal science major!!! Not anymore though, he has gotten over the fear of at least this animal! And notice I keep calling her kitty. Well, she doesn't have a name. When we got her the lady asked if we were okay with a male. I said, "Sure!" I got her home and the more I look the more I realize it ain't a he, it's a she. So Bob or Whiskers was his name but now she doesn't really have one, I think it may end of being Tallula or Tallula Bell but so far she is called that very rarely and most often kitty, which I guess may be a good name too, just Kitty!?! Hmmm...anyhoo we now have a pet and she is so sweet, she even tolerates Mia (oh and Mia's cousins....now that is a good cat!!!)
